PLAYING NETBALL
How can I find our closest Association and the competitions they run?
You can search Associations to find your local netball organisation. Most Associations have their own website featuring current events, programs, fixtures and management committee contact details. Information on current netball initiatives and programs can be found on the Netball Queensland website.
If you are having trouble finding an Association most appropriate tofor you, or would like further information on netball programs run throughout the state, contact Netball Queensland at info@netballq.org.au or on (07) 3848 6330.
How do I get my daughter started?
For young girls interested in playing netball for the first time, there is NetSetGo! This program is for children (girls and boys) aged 5-10 and is designed for teaching the basics of netball while fostering fun and friendship in a team environment. NetSetGo! is coordinated through a number of Associations throughout Queensland
Are there any age limits on who can play netball?
No, netball can be played at any age though the levels and grading vary across age groups. There are a number of options including social and competitive teams and indoor and outdoor competitions. Your local Association can provide more details on their own events and competitions.
What does it cost to play and what does the cost include?
Netball Queensland sets a standard fee for various categories of membership. Associations will also charge an add-on fee for the services they provide. For this reason, membership fees will vary across Associations. Netball Queensland’s fee includes registration, insurance and a Netball Australia levy, with the remainder of the fee being used to deliver programs and service our members.
If I join my local Association, am I covered by insurance?
Yes, if you register with your local Association, you are covered under a national insurance scheme.
I would like to play social netball in the off-season. Where can I play?
Netball Queensland does not have a listing of social competitions across Queensland as they change annually and are coordinated by the Associations themselves. Many Associations coordinate run-off season competitions which are played in the evenings. Contact your local Association for more information.
